Donegal County Museum
Erected to collect, record,
preserve, communicate and display the history of donegal. Irt is
located at High Street, Letterkenny and houses a fascinating range of
artefacts covering all aspects of life in Donegal. The museum charts the
history of the county over the last three centuries, from the Penal Laws to
the emergency. Donegal County Museum, built in 1846 is based in a fine old
stone building, once part of the Letterkenny Workhouse.

Colmcille Heritage Centre
Colmcille Heritage Centre,
located at Gartan, Churchill, Letterkenny. The centre houses a unique
interpretative exhibition featuring the life and times of Saint Colmcille (Columba)
- Patriarch of the Irish monastic system and founder of the Scottish Church.
The centre is located in a beautiful stone building on the shores of Lough
Gartan, within the Derryveagh mountain range. |

Golf Courses
Donegal has some of the finest links golf courses in Ireland, including
Ballyliffin, Rosapenna and Murvagh. The local Letterkenny golfcourse is
parkland with splendid scenery.

Glenveagh National Park
Glenveagh National Park lies along the Derryveagh Mountains. This beautiful
national park is just a 20 minute drive away from Letterkenny. It includes a
14,000 hectare deer park set amongst the mountain range around Lough Veagh.
Here also is a visitor centre with audio-visual displays and Glenveagh
Castle surrounded by one of the finest gardens in Ireland. Guided tours are
also available.
North-West Donegal coastline is world famous for its breath taking beauty
and there are few better Touring Bases for exploring its
delights than Letterkenny. It is within easy reach of the historic walled
city of Derry, the stunning landscapes of Innisowen peninsula, the
commanding heights of the Errigal, the Sperrins and Derryveagh mountains and
the geological marvels of the Giant's Causeway.
From the wild shores of Donegal's Irish speaking Gweedore area, you can
catch a boat to the famous islands of Tory and Arranmore.
