About Letterkenny |
| Letterkenny
on the banks of the River Swilly has developed from a tiny
fishing village to now being the largest town in County Donegal.
Letterkenny is a vibrant town with newly built shopping centres
alongside the many traditional craft shops, restaurants and
pubs. Here you will find the An Grianán Theatre, cinema complexes,
leisure centres and modern bowling alley. Donegal County Museum
is also in Letterkenny and houses a fascinating range of artifacts
covering all aspects of life in Donegal from the pre-historic
period to the 20th century.

|

|
Letterkenny's comprehensive sporting facilities include
leisure centres with swimming pool, sauna, and fitness room, a flood lit
tennis centre, go-karting, astroturf football pitch, American pool hall,
brand new state of the art 10 screen cinema complex and 18 hole parkland
golf course which hosted the Irish Ladies Open Golf Championship,
with its modern club house restaurant.

For the committed angler, the plentiful loughs, rivers and
streams of Letterkenny provide countless challenges with salmon, brown trout, and
sea trout in abundance. With a dramatic 1000 kilometres of coastline,
Donegal, with its great sea loughs of the Foyle, The Swilly, Mulroy and
Sheepheaven, offers true diversity of angling waters. |
